getting the material to take shape on the dress form and discussing how to assemble the materials so they will actually stay in place and move with the body.

we had some great team bonding time during the process and we took 3rd place at the event.

the shape has been refined and some assembly has been established. a lot of hand cut shapes were made by the entire team.

2018 iida threads

we competed in the 2018 IIDA Threads couture fashion show. This was the first time that we had participated in this event. The overall theme was biophilia- our sub category was skins/texture. We chose to explore the skin of a snake. each team was assigned a product manufacturer related to architecture or interior design. Our main material was an athletic rubber flooring.

for the back of the dress we used carpet backing and developed a hombre color. this represented the shedding of snake skin.
